Cadmium ranks No. 7 out of the 275 most hazardous substances in the priority list of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention. "There's nothing positive that you can say about this metal. It's a poison," said Bruce A.Fowler, a cadmium specialist and toxicologist. There was speculation that Chinese manufacturers shifted to Cadmium as substitute to heavily regulated metals in the US such as lead because of the new US law called “Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008”. |
