Trend forecaster WGSN has revealed ideas of Americana, with some new executions of time-honored elements appear.
In a report, it said components such as contrast piped yoke details and traditional curved Western pockets are added to sophisticated tracksuits at fashion designer Dries Van Noten.
It noted Xander Zhou and Lanvin project a luxed-up vision of cowboy style, while Dunhill shows refined denim that has no place herding cattle.
“While the styling and execution of key items feels modern and fresh, the color palette is a big slice of comforting nostalgia, as retro and reassuring as it is warm and easy,” it said.
The WGSN said brown and russet shades play host to more vibrant blue shades, which range from sporty electric at Astrid Andersen to perfectly vintage team at DSquare2.
Orange cream from Qasimi adds more sunny warmth, while ivory is a useful neutral, it added.
“Although predictable in principle, the blanket stripes, ombre checks and Western embroideries that are key for the Americana Remix trend are mostly delivered in fresh colourways or less conventional designs,” it said.
The report further said fabrics are “clean and crisp”, leaving the hallmarks of true vintage heavy wash, hairy or brushed finishes-behind.
It said the accessories are part of the trend, from the bolo tie to the oval plague belt and snakeskin cowboy boots.
“Metal hardware brings a tough edge to each look, especially lending tailoring a macho angle. Perfectly at home with denim, leather details finished with silver metal trims are a key message,” it added.
